Each February the chapter celebrates the anniversary of the United States Marine Corps Women's Reserve. The Women's Reserve was established February 13, 1943. The chapter celebrates this event the second Saturday of February with a special luncheon. We honor the courage and esprit de corps of each woman who volunteered to serve her country during a time of great need and became the pioneer who paved the way for all women who have served and are serving today.

Since 1964, there has been a Biennial National Convention held during the end of August into September to include Labor Day weekend. The next Biennial Convention and Professional Development Conference will be in Philadelphia, PA from August 31st through September 4th, 2012 (See Link Here). The Women Marine Veterans were inspired to cultivate an organization that would honor their military service, provide for community service and develop friendships based on a shared history.

The Edith Macias Vann Southern California Chapter participates in the Annual Oceanside Independence Day Parade held the Saturday closest to the Fourth of July. We have fun riding in a military truck that we lavishly decorate in red, white and blue bunting.
Celebrating the Birthday of the Country that we served and love; it is an uplifting experience.

In spring the chapter participates in the MS Walk for two of our own. It is a day of sharing with each other for a good cause and support for our members affected by MS.
The fellowship and support for one another grows and brings us closer together as a team.
